Anglo-Scandinavian Stirrup Mounts

Stirrup Mounts were introduced into Britain by the Vikings. They were purely for decoration and were fitted on the top edge of the stirrup. The two main shapes found in Britain are triangular and rectangular. Decoration can be abstract or feature creatures such as lions, snakes and dragons.
